World Cup finalists Humphries and Littler make their debut in Premier League Darts

The Darts World Cup has just concluded with a spectacular final between the new title holder Luke Humphries and 16-year-old darts sensation Luke Littler. A day later, the field of participants for next season’s Premier League was announced. And no big surprise: both finalists will make their debut.

Also Michael van Gerwen, who played the tournament last year won for the seventh timethe dethroned world champion Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall are present, as they complete the top four of the world rankings behind Humphries.

The field is completed by former world champions Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Rob Cross. So no Danny Noppert (number seven in the world), Dirk van Duijvenbode (thirteenth) or multiple world champion Raymond van Barneveld.

Starts on February 1

The format has remained unchanged. The eight players meet every Thursday evening for sixteen weeks for a knockout tournament where the winner of the day is played, but where points can also be earned for the rankings. The final top four will compete for overall victory in London on Thursday, May 23.

The Premier League starts in Wales on Thursday, February 1. Ahoy in Rotterdam is scheduled for April 18 (twelfth round).
