NOS News•
It is the last weekend of October and so winter time (or standard time) started tonight. At 3:00 am the clock is set back one hour, to 2:00 am.
For many people, that means an extra hour of sleep. As of this morning, it will be light earlier in the morning and darker earlier in the evening.
Time difference
The clocks are changed in all countries of the European Union. Daylight saving time is not used in Russia and Turkey, among others. The overseas areas of the Netherlands also do not have summer time; the time difference with the islands is now five instead of six hours.
In the United States, winter time (in most states) doesn’t start until next week.
Summer time will start again on the night of March 30 to 31, 2024. The clock then goes forward one hour.
