This was perhaps the least surprising victory in the history of the Iowa caucuses.

Donald Trump won by a landslide in the first contest in the Republican presidential nominee race, and the margin in the end was as comfortable as polls had predicted for months.

But controlling the vote count was just one of the reasons the former president was celebrating on Monday night, after his supporters braved frigid conditions to deliver victory.

Neither of Trump’s main rivals, Nikki Haley or Ron DeSantis, has emerged as a major contender, so the anti-Trump vote remains split.
