6 november 2023, 16:06

In contrast to the first team, the five youth teams of SC Cambuur did play in competition last weekend (Saturday). Below you will find the results for each team and a brief report of the matches played.

ADO Den Haag O21 – SC Cambuur O21 (Division 1A, 1-2)
In a stormy Hofstad with a lot of rain and win, it was difficult for SC Cambuur O21 to create opportunities against ADO Den Haag O21 from good positional play. There were no goals until just before half-time Jeffrey Buitenweg opened the score after a good individual action by Vincent Pichel. While the yellow and blue should have extended their lead, the home team leveled the score immediately after half-time. After this, the match remained in the balance and Tyrick Bodak made a save after a chance from ADO Den Haag O21. Fifteen minutes before the end, it was Yoram van der Veen who scored the winning goal after good pressure and on a pass from Daan Visser. Three important points were there!

SC Cambuur O18 – FC Groningen O18 (Division 2A, 1-1)
At the Cambuurplein, SC Cambuur O18 crossed swords with FC Groningen O18 and the yellow-blue had a difficult time against a well-playing opponent in the first half. The Groningers mainly became dangerous from the transition and the opening goal came after nine minutes. As the game progressed, the visitors created a number of pretty big chances, which were blocked by the strong goalkeeper Yannick Agbagni.

In the second half, SC Cambuur O18 got into the match better and created a number of great chances. This resulted in an equalizer about twenty minutes before the end of regular time, thanks to a fantastic free kick from Roan van der Weij. Both teams then went looking for victory and in extra time FC Groningen O18 received another penalty, but this was saved by Yannick Agbagni! The yellow-blue took a hard-fought point.

Telstar O16 – SC Cambuur O16 (Division 4A, 2-3)
When visiting Telstar O16 in Velsen-Zuid, SC Cambuur O16 experienced a tough first half and it was the home team who managed to score twice. But after the tea break it was the yellow and blue who managed to stage a sensational comeback and turn the deficit into a 2-3 victory with goals from Wessel van der Goot, Johan Veensta and an own goal to take three points. The victory would not have happened if goalkeeper Adriano Tchakoua had not played a hero’s role early in the second act by taking a penalty kick.

SC Cambuur O14 – Almere City FC O14 (Division 3A, 1-5)
During the match with Almere City FC O14 on home soil, SC Cambuur O14 got off to a bad start, as after ten minutes the Flevolanders were in the lead with a margin of two goals. After that, the yellow-blue started the game better, but unfortunately the third goal was conceded just before half-time. SC Cambuur O14 didn’t start badly in the second half, but Almere City FC O14 scored two more goals from an error in the build-up and a penalty kick. The yellow-blue team scored the goal of honor via Adel Boufennara just before the end, but it was to no avail.

SC Heerenveen O12 – SC Cambuur O12 (Twin Games)
The next Frisian Derby was on the program for SC Cambuur O12, this time at SC Heerenveen O12. The home team was the team that scored the first goals. But the yellow-blue counter-response soon followed and they also scored a few very nice goals. By working well together, showing courage and also enjoying themselves, the men from Leeuwarden put up a very good fight. Unfortunately, more goals were not scored than the opponent, but another good match was played in which a lot was achieved and everyone was able to learn a lot.
