A shock for all those present and for some of the woman’s family members present to watch the race. Unfortunately, the rescue efforts proved useless for Margherita, victim of a fall from a horse.
According to the reconstruction of the event, the tragedy occurred during the warm up. The sixty-year-old was training for the upcoming competition when something went wrong: her horse reared up and inevitably caused the expert athlete to fall, as she was unable to manage everything in the best possible way. The impact with the ground was violent and fatalas also confirmed by the unnatural movement of the body.
It seems that the Amazon reported breaking the spinal column at the neck, according to what was reported by La Nuova Sardegna. A situation which effectively rendered resuscitation attempts with the intervention of doctors, service ambulances and air ambulances useless. Mayer actually never regained consciousness and therefore lost his life almost instantly. Confirmation of the sad epilogue came from the organizing committee of the Sardinia Jumping Tour 2023 Agris, Fise and the president of the jury.
This is the official statement: “It is with profound sadness that the Organizing Committee of the Sardegna Jumping Tour 2023, Agris, Fise and the President of the jury communicate that during the warm up underway in the afternoon, the rider died due to a tragic accident – we read in the note – The organization, the riders and the riders, all the staff involved in the event and those present at the tragic circumstance join with affection in the pain of the husband and family”.
