The Moroccan national team reaches the round of 16 in the Junior World Cup

The Moroccan national team reached the round of sixteen of the FIFA U-17 World Cup held in Indonesia, beating its Indonesian counterpart 3-1 today, Thursday, in the third and final round of the first group matches.

In the other match in the same group, Ecuador tied with Panama 1-1.

The Moroccan team advanced to the round of sixteen by topping the first group with six points from two wins and one defeat, followed by the Ecuador team, which came in second with five points from a win and two draws, and the Indonesian team came in third place with two points, equally with the Panama team.

At Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Anas Alaoui led the Atlas Lions with a goal from a penalty kick in the 29th minute, and ten minutes later Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal added the second goal for Morocco.

Nabil Ashoura responded with a goal for Indonesia in the 42nd minute, then Mohamed El Hamouni confirmed Morocco’s victory by scoring the third goal in the 64th minute.

At Manahan Stadium, Ecuador took the lead with a goal by Elkin Ruiz in the 25th minute, but Panama responded with an equalizer in the 79th minute by Oldemar Castillo.
