The expected heavy evening rush hour does not occur, some traffic jams are over again

The heavy evening rush hour that Rijkswaterstaat warned about earlier today will not occur. The traffic jams that did arise are over by the beginning of the evening. For example, there was a traffic jam on the A9 from Aalsmeer towards the Holendrecht junction during the evening rush hour. This was caused by a broken truck.

There was also slow-moving traffic on the other side of the road this evening. There was a traffic jam of 8 kilometers on the A9 from Amstelveen towards Badhoevedorp, also due to a broken down vehicle.

Today’s morning rush hour was considerable with a delay of one and a half hours on the A8. Due to an accident near Zaanstad-Zuid, three of the four lanes were temporarily closed.

The A7 also suffered from the delays. There was a delay of more than an hour at Purmerend-Zuid. This traffic jam had increased to ten kilometers.

Smoothness

This morning, heavy spreading was done to prevent local slippery conditions caused by winter showers. The KNMI had issued code yellow for winter hail and snow showers and warns of slippery conditions. The warning applies at least until tonight.
