A sterile Taranto loses 1-0 at home against Casertana: a goal by Tavernelli scored in the 16th minute of the first half decides the Iacovone contest, valid for the 13th matchday of the Serie C Now championship. More was certainly expected from Capuano’s team who, despite the numerical superiority for over an hour of play dictated by Casoli’s expulsion in the 27th minute of the first half, almost never worried the Campania rearguard.
Capuano changes formation and returns to the 3-5-2 in the defensive phase which becomes a 3-4-1-2 in the offensive phase, with Romano acting as an attacking midfielder behind Kanoutè and Cianci. In the 7th minute the first thrill of the match: cross from the right by Calapai for Tavernelli who, like Lautaro Martinez, anticipates Antonini. Vannucchi’s intervention was great, as he rejected the ball laterally, performing a real feat. At 12′ Casertana still dangerous on the right: Casoli triangulates with Calapai and enters the penalty area, but the conclusion is weak and easy prey for the Taranto goalkeeper. In the 16th minute the guests took the lead: cross from the left by Anastasio, winning header by Tavernelli who anticipated Antonini and found the goal to make it 0-1. In the 27th minute following a corner, Casoli hits Ferrara with an elbow on the far ball: the referee notices the gesture and sends the player off. In the 34th minute Kanoutè escapes a defender and flies towards Venturi’s goal: the winger discards the goalkeeper and kicks, a providential save on the line by Anastasio, who puts it for a corner. On the developments, Riggio’s header misses the target. In the 38th minute Romano tries a free kick from over 25 meters, the ball goes just wide. In the 40th minute Capuano decides to change the cards on the table: Orlando and Fabbro come in for Mastromonaco and Romano, switching to 4-2-3-1 as a tactical scheme.
In the 1st minute Kanoutè immediately tries with a right foot: high shot. After four turns of the clock, Cianci serves the former Avellino player: the central conclusion is blocked by Venturi. The game is quite fragmented, with several interruptions due to the many fouls committed by the two teams. Casertana comes back in the 38th minute with an insidious shot from Anastasio, on the restart: Vannucchi reaches for a corner. The rossoblù try to make themselves dangerous in the 45th minute: cross from the left by Ferrara for Cianci, he passes towards Antonini who kicks and finds the deflection from Samele, but the ball ends up high. In full injury time, Tavernelli comes close to making it 2-0 but Vannucchi rejects. Taranto’s attacks do not bring the hoped-for results, Casertana conquers Iacovone and wins three golden points. In the Ionian team, however, it will be necessary to understand what didn’t work in the match against the Campania team: Capuano’s team was unable to undermine Casertana’s defence, leaving empty-handed for the second time within friendly walls and amidst the boos of their supporters. for the first time this season.
