Isaac Romero scored and Sevilla achieved an important 1-0 victory over Atlético de Madrid, this Sunday (11/2), in the 24th round of the Spanish Championship. The game was played at their home stadium, the Ramón Pizjuan stadium. And it marked the second consecutive victory for a team, one of the most traditional in Spain, that was very close to the relegation zone.

Sevilla has 23 points, in 15th place. In this way, they open six of the first within the relegation zone, Cádiz. Atlético remains in the Champions zone, in fourth place, with 48 points. It is 13 behind leader Real Madrid.

Atlético does not hold Sevilla

Sevilla and Atlético had a great first half. Sevilla, in a terrible position in the table, surprised with their engaging football and offensive creation. And he made Atletico goalkeeper Oblak have a lot of work to do. At 14, he saved by sending a shot from Isaak to the corner. But the corner kick went to Isaak’s head, who won it high and opened the scoring. The game was pretty open after that. If Isaak missed the chance to expand, Atlético regretted two opportunities from Morata and a dangerous finish from Samuel Lino. It could very well have snatched the tie.

The second half came and clear chances continued for both sides. Depay almost equalized for Atlético. Isaak was wasted for Sevilla and even complained about not giving a penalty (which seemed clear) after being pushed by the marker in the area. But the referee gave nothing and the VAR did not consider the review. And the game was 1-0.
