Roda JC won the Limburg derby at home against MVV on Sunday. The number two of the Kitchen Champion Division struck through Lennard Daneels in the absolute final phase and won again after three matches without a win: 1-0.
Roda JC started the season with six wins in the first eight games, which allowed the team to become the winner of the first period. But then the team of trainer Bas Sibum was in trouble. Of the eight subsequent competition matches, Roda won only two.
Sibum’s team also did not seem to win in the Limburg derby against MVV, although the home team had the better of the game and had the best chances. The attempts of Walid Ould Chikh and Maximilian Schmid, among others, were unsuccessful.
Until Daneels caused an explosion in the well-filled Parkstad Limburg Stadium in the fourth minute of injury time. The Belgian fired through the arms of MVV goalkeeper Romain Matthys and gave Roda a 1-0 win.
The Limburgers won again, after having failed to win the three games before. Roda is still second in the Kitchen Champion Division. The gap to leader Willem II is three points.
On Monday, number three FC Emmen can again level with the Limburgers in points. The people of Drenthe must then win when they visit Jong PSV.
