Roda JC is going to press charges against a group of its own supporters. Fans of the club tried to break out of the away section’s bus lock after the cup match at NEC (5-3 defeat) on Thursday, causing Roda JC employees to be injured.
“It is completely unacceptable that these people, who call themselves supporters of our club, misbehave so much, you should stay away from our employees,” said general manager Jordens Peters in a statement on the Limburg club’s website.
Things went wrong after Thursday evening’s spectacular cup match with NEC in De Goffert Stadium. Some of the Limburg supporters tried to break out of the bus lock in the exit section. In their attempt to do so, club stewards were injured.
Roda JC wants to punish the responsible supporters and has already initiated further steps. “In the coming days, there will be extensive investigation to trace and punish the perpetrators of the disorder. Roda JC will also report it to the police,” the club said.
The disturbances are a blemish on Roda JC’s good season so far. The club is first in the Kitchen Champion Division and has already won its first period title. Roda JC last played in the Eredivisie in the 2017-2018 season.
