The councilor of São Gonçalo (RJ) Aldecyr Maldonado, known as Cici Maldonado (PL), aged 61, was murdered on Tuesday night (7). The Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Homicide Police are investigating the case.
According to the Civil Police, witnesses of the crime were interviewed and an investigation was carried out at the scene. On the councilor’s profile on the social network Instagram, a note says that the parliamentarian was killed in an attempted robbery.
The mayor of São Gonçalo, Captain Nelson, declared three days of official mourning in the municipality, located in Grande Rio and the second most populous in the state.
“It was with great sadness that I received the news of the death of councilor Cici Maldonado, who was always a man dedicated to the demands of the population of Gonçalo,” wrote Nelson on his Instagram profile. “I contacted Governor Cláudio Castro and asked for his commitment to clarifying the case. I trust the work of the police to clarify the facts. May those responsible be identified and punished, bringing justice to the councilor’s family and all those who accompanied him.”
The São Gonçalo City Council also declared a three-day mourning period. The body, which is being laid to rest at the Porto da Madama Baptist Church, in São Gonçalo, will be buried at the Parque da Paz cemetery, at 4pm.
