PSV cannot call on Noa Lang in the important Champions League match against Sevilla on Wednesday. The attacker is injured.
The 24-year-old Lang made his return as a substitute in the away match against FC Twente (0-3) on Saturday, after being sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring injury.
According to trainer Peter Bosz, Lang has had a “small setback” in recent days, meaning the left winger cannot play against Sevilla. He did travel to Andalusia. “It is not very serious. He is coming back from a very long injury, we are not going to take any risks with that. He needs to take some time to settle down,” says Bosz.
It is not clear whether he has recovered in time for Sunday’s top match against Feyenoord. Bosz: “If you are not there today, you are also a question mark for Sunday. We did take him to Spain because I would like him to be part of the group.”
Just like in recent weeks, Hirving Lozano will be PSV’s left winger in the match against Sevilla. Lozano proved to be a worthy replacement for the revelation of the start of the season. The Mexican scored four times and also provided one assist.
‘We will do everything to win’
There is a lot at stake for PSV in the away match against Sevilla (kick-off 6.45 pm). With a win and a defeat of competitor RC Lens against Arsenal, the club from Eindhoven is assured of a place in the last sixteen of the Champions League, which last happened in 2016.
In the event of a draw or defeat in Seville, the decision will be made in the home match against Arsenal in two weeks. Trainer Bosz absolutely does not want to let it come to the last game, even if Arsenal can already be sure of the next round.
“We will therefore do everything we can to win here tomorrow,” said the trainer of the flawless Eredivisie leader shortly before the final training. “That has always been our intention and I must say that this has already been achieved many times this season.”
