PSV ended the first friendly match of its training camp in Spain with a draw. Consisting of a mix of players from Jong PSV and PSV 1, Head Coach Peter Bosz’s team was stuck at 1-1 against Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo. Yorbe Vertessen found the net on behalf of PSV.
The poster with the Almelo club was also on the program earlier this season, in an Eredivisie context: PSV won by a large margin (6-0) when visiting the PhD candidate. Of the eleven who started in the starting line-up in that match, none of them started the kick-off of the match in Marbella. Young players such as Tay Abed, Tygo Land and Isaac Babadi started within the lines.
The first danger of the match came via Heracles Almelo. In the tenth minute, striker Mohamed Sankoh charged at goalkeeper Joël Drommel, but the counterattack was nipped in the bud by the PSV defense. Not much later, Isaac and Patrick van Aanholt followed with the first goal attempts on behalf of PSV, but they saw their long-range shots go wide of the goal of Heracles Almelo sneak post Michael Brouwer.
After about twenty minutes the spell was broken. Tygo was played by Ricardo Pepi and sent a characteristic through ball to Yorbe, who showed a cool finish at full speed. With a slider into the far corner he set the halftime score at 1-0.
The second goal of the match came at the other end. Cold on the field, Heracles Almelo substitute Jizz Hornkamp brought his team level: in the 67e minute he was accurate from close range after a cross from the side. Yorbe and Patrick then had opportunities to give PSV the lead again against the Tukkers, but were unable to do so.
