PSV also ties Heerenveen to victory

PSV is still on course for a new Premier League record. The club of coach Peter Bosz also won the fifteenth competition match in a row. Heerenveen was beaten 2-0 at home on Thursday evening.

This means that PSV is only a few wins away from a record: the best start to the season in the Premier League ever. That is also in the hands of the Eindhoven club: under success coach Guus Hiddink, the first seventeen games in the dream season 1987-1988 were won.

PSV did not have much trouble with the Frisian club on Thursday evening, although Heerenveen occasionally came close to the Eindhoven goal. PSV immediately went hunting for the first goal, and after a few chances it came after more than half an hour of play. Til hit the net, after preliminary work by Tilman and De Jong.

Then the home team started looking for more goals. After a disallowed goal and a ball on the crossbar, Pepi managed to double the score with a bang. This showed that the loot had finally been obtained.

Before the match in the Philips Stadium, there was a special tribute for Wim van der Leegte. The former CEO of VDL and honorary member of the club died last month at the age of 76. Fans paid a final tribute with lights throughout the stadium.

PSV is proudly at the top of the Premier League, ten points ahead of number two Feyenoord. The Rotterdam team narrowly defeated relegation candidate FC Volendam at home on Thursday evening.
