Philippines, 7.6 magnitude earthquake on the island of Mindanao: concern over tsunami warning

A magnitude 7.6 earthquake has been recorded off the island of Mindanao, in the Philippines. The quake occurred at 10.37pm local time at a depth of 32 kilometers. The news was reported by the US seismological center Usgs. A tsunami warning has been issued for the Philippines, Indonesia, Palau and Malaysia.

So far there is no information on the damage caused by the earthquake. A Philippine government agency has advised residents of Surigao Del Sur and Davao, provinces on the eastern coast of Mindanao, to immediately evacuate to higher ground, or move inland.
