Vangelis Pavlidis helped AZ to an easy win over SC Heerenveen on Saturday with a hat trick: 3-0. The attacker is now the top scorer in the Premier League with thirteen goals, together with Feyenoord player Santiago Gimenez.
After the victory, the Alkmaarders are two points behind leader PSV, that won against Fortuna Sittard. Number three Feyenoord put aside Vitesse on Saturday and follows two points behind AZ.
Eredivisierecord Pavlidis
The accurate Pavlidis, who had to settle for a place on the bench against the Netherlands in Greece, is now the first player in history to score in his club’s first nine Premier League matches.
“Of course it’s nice to break a record,” Pavlidis laughed afterwards. “It feels really good to be important to the team in that way.”

It didn’t take long for the Greek to score in the ninth game. Pavlidis saw his bet touched by Thom Haye, putting the score at 1-0.
AZ then leaned back and only shivered briefly at Haye’s free kick. AZ (read: Pavlidis) increased the score in a controlled manner in the second half: the Greek scored after crosses from Dani de Wit and Yuki Sugawara and was substituted.
The Frisians again created very little and are in fifteenth place after another defeat.
