Aniston began her publication by describing the “wave of emotions” she has experienced since the news: “Sitting in this grief allows you to feel moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone so deeply,” Aniston declared, reiterating that Perry was an inseparable part of the “DNA” of the six friends.

The actress revealed how, in recent weeks, she has consoled herself by reviewing messages she exchanged with Perry, and vowed to treasure them. She shared one of those texts in her post, where she Perry expressed how much making her laugh meant to him. She also included a photo of the two on the set of “Friends” and a clip from the series that reflected a genuine moment of laughter between her characters.

Closing her message, Aniston expressed her love for Perry, even joking about how she imagined he would respond to their everyday conversations.

“Matty, I love you so much and I know you are completely at peace and pain-free now. I talk to you every day…sometimes I can almost hear you say ‘could you BE crazier?’ Rest little brother. you always made my day…”

Matthew Perry, who has died at age 54, had previously spoken about the continued support of his castmates throughout his recovery from the addictions he dealt with since his twenties. In particular, he appreciated the care of Aniston, who maintained close contact during those challenges.

Following the announcement of Perry’s death, her five “Friends” castmates — including Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer — issued a joint statement expressing their solidarity, calling the moment an inconceivable loss. The group preferred to take some time to process the loss before offering more detailed statements, sending their love to Perry’s family and all those who loved him around the world.
