Janny Knol chief of police at the police | News item

Janny Knol succeeds Henk van Essen, who has been chief of police at the police since 2020.

JC (Janny) Knol MA has broad experience within the police. She has been police chief of East Netherlands since February 2022. Previously, she was deputy police chief of the Northern Netherlands and a member of the East Netherlands unit leadership. She started her career in 1990 as an officer at the Deventer municipal police.

Janny Knol obtained a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from the School for Police Leadership/NSOB. She followed the ABD Candidate Program in 2018 and 2019.

The police are a covenant partner of the Directorate General of the General Administrative Service. This appointment was made through a procedure comparable to that for positions within the General Administrative Service. DGABD carried out the recruitment for this appointment and supported the Ministry of Justice and Security in the selection. The vacancy was opened as usual, although the police already had a suitable candidate in mind, as stated in the vacancy text. After a careful procedure, she became one.
