In this message we will keep you informed of developments on the road and on the water in North Holland due to autumn storm Ciarán.
North Holland currently has code yellow for heavy wind gusts of 75 to 90 kilometers per hour. Since 6 p.m., code yellow has also been in effect for heavy rain. The showers can last up to 24 hours, the KNMI reports. Locally, more than 50 millimeters of rain can fall during that period.
It may be necessary to close provincial roads to traffic for reasons of road safety or because passage is obstructed by a fallen tree. All N-roads in North Holland are currently passable.
- The Markerwaarddijk between Enkhuizen and Lelystad is open again for trucks and trailers. However, there is still an overtaking ban and maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour.
- In the south of the province, a number of bridges are closed to shipping. For more information, go to www.vaarweginformatie.nl.
- Clean-up work is currently taking place in several places. In some places, trees pose a safety hazard. If so, the tree will be removed.
- The Noordhollandsch Kanaal is currently blocked for shipping.
