In this way, Girona continues its surprising and fantastic campaign. After all, the little Catalan reaches the same 25 points as leader Real Madrid. But he is the runner-up by balance (14 to 11). However, Alméria remains in last place, with three points.
Almería 2-0 with goals from Batistão
Almería started with everything. After all, Léo Batistão was lethal, goals at two and 24 minutes. It didn’t even seem like the team was bottom and without a single victory. And that he was facing the sensation of Espanyol, with seven wins, a draw and a single defeat (to leaders Real Madrid). However, Girona turned around in eight minutes, still in the first half. At 35, in a controversial move, Leo Batistão lost the ball, apparently suffering a foul. However, the referee ordered it to continue and the ball reached Iván Martín, who reduced the difference. For three minutes, VAR analyzed the move and confirmed the goal.
Girona and the vapt-vupt turn
To the delight of the almost 13 thousand fans who almost filled Montilivi, the equalizer came in the next attack when Dutchman Daley Blind found Ukrainian Dovbyk. He received it on the left and equalized with a crossed shot. Almería, in disbelief, saw Girona turn around when, at 43, Dovbyk received the ball on the right of the attack, in the area, cut through two markers and scored a great goal.
In the second half, Girona, very calm on the field, tried to take advantage of Almería’s marking errors to build the victory. At 26, Savinho received the ball on the right and, when everyone thought it was going to be a cross, the Brazilian sent it into the goal. In the end, two substitutes made the play that closed the score. Arnau Martínez received it on the right and crossed for Uruguayan veteran Stuani. A rout and a complete party for the Catalans.
