how much will he earn for playing the 2024 Copa Sudamericana

2023 will be remembered as a great year for Belgranowho after achieving promotion from the First National with a historic campaign, made their way and much more than that in the Professional League.

This Sunday, with Huracán’s victory against Atlético Tucumána place was secured to compete in the South American Cup 2024.

A tremendous achievement for Guillermo Farré’s team, which will also allow the club to have more than transcendent income.

Seven years later, of Cups

In 2016 it was Belgrano’s last international participation and the format of the competition was different. The matches were “hand in hand” and the Pirate faced Estudiantes de La Plata. And it prevailed.

But then they fell on penalties against Coritiba of Brazil, at the Mario Alberto Kempes stadium.

Now the dispute system is different and the cup offers at least six games because it is played in round-trip groups of four teams.

Reaching the international level, in addition to granting the prestige of being a team in this type of competition, delivers a significant sum of money.

And in dollars, which is more than tempting for any of the Professional League clubs.

The amounts that Conmebol will pay in the 2024 edition are not yet available, but taking what it distributed this year, qualifying gives a team close to US$ 1 million in base (about $ 368 million at today’s exchange rate).

The six Argentine teams go directly into the group zone, as do the six from Brazil. And each of them receives about US$900,000 for accessing this instance and, in turn, has a “sports merit” award of US$100,000 for each match won.

But there is a cash income that is more than important and occurs in the sale of tickets, which is direct for the clubs.

In the case that Belgrano playing in its stadium, it would have a minimum of 30 thousand locations per game, discounting protocol and sponsors; That is, 90 thousand tickets, which, at an average of $10 thousand, gives the club an income of $900 million (something like US$2.4 million at official value).

Thus, Alberdi’s club is securing a figure greater than US$3 million.

We cannot ignore the growth that will have in the value of sponsorship renewals, the sale of merchandising, clothing and, even less, the price of the player’s records.

In addition, it must be taken into account that the Giant will be under construction in the first months of 2024 (the Cuellar grandstand will be expanded).

And for this reason it is feasible that Conmebol will ask him to move to the Mario Kempes stadium, which would increase ticket sales by at least 10,000 more tickets per game. That is, 30 thousand more tickets to sell (just over US$815 thousand official).

But not stopping there, if the team managed to access the next phase, it would have more than US$ 1 million more assured, because if it comes out in second place, it plays in the round of 16 playoffs (it crosses paths with the third parties who come from the zones of the Libertadores) and charges US$500 thousand, plus a collection of $300 million (about US$815 thousand at official value). And if we overcome this key, another million arrives, since there are 550 thousand for playing in the round of 16 and the sale of tickets.

Without a doubt, there are many reasons to celebrate for Belgrano, which also qualified for the quarterfinals of the League Cup.

This Monday he will seek to close this stage of the championship in the best way by visiting Racing in Avellaneda. And dreaming of everything that will come in 2024. An international Belgrano.
