At home, SC Heerenveen decided the mid-table match with Fortuna Sittard in its favor: 3-0. Thom Haye scored twice from a penalty. With the victory, Heerenveen rises to seventh place, Fortuna is eleventh.

Heerenveen opened slightly more ambitiously, but was impure. A miss at the back led to a chance for Fortuna striker Tijjani Noslin. Goalkeeper Andries Noppert turned the shot and then flew to the corner in an attempt by Alen Halilovic, the Croat who spent one season on loan for Heerenveen years ago.

The Frisians took the lead in extra time of the first half through a converted penalty from Thom Haye. This was awarded after a handball by defender Mitchell Dijks, who also has a past with Heerenveen.

Heerenveen also received a penalty after the break and again Haye remained calm from eleven meters. In the final phase, Ion Nicolaescu made it 3-0 from a counter.
