Giorgio Napolitano’s health conditions worsen

The health conditions of President Emeritus Giorgio Napolitano, who turned 98 on June 29, have worsened in the last few hours. The clinical picture would have become more complicated during the night and the situation would have been particularly critical. In 2022 the emeritus head of state had undergone abdominal surgery for the second time, after the first operation in 2018 after leaving his second mandate at the Quirinale after two years. Giorgio Napolitano, in fact, is the 11th President of the Republic, from 15 May 2006 to 15 January 2015, and is the first president in Italian history to be re-elected at the Quirinale for a second term interrupted after just over two years. Napolitano has long since retired from the political scene.
