Football Catania / Picerno defeated, brace from Di Carmine

Al Massimino always hosts great occasions, with its 14,000 subscribers. The rossozzurri team fresh from defeat against Crotone and from the forced break against Brindisi, due to the unusability of the stadium, he finds himself in front of his own fans facing AZ Picerno.

The formations on the field

On the training front, the suspended Lorenzini is out (dealing with the third of the four matchday suspension), the injured Rapisarda and Dubickas, as well as Marco Chiarella still not in top form. Marco Palermo was not called up and asked to be sold. In the possible starting 4-3-3 there is room for Livieri between the woodwork; Castellini and Mazzotta on the outside, with Silvestri and Curado in the middle; in the midfield Zammarini and Rocca in the role of midfielders, with Rizzo in the role of play-maker; offensive trident composed of Chiricò, Di Carmine and Marsura.

Race direction entrusted to Mr Michele Delrio from Reggio Emilia. The Emilian race director will be assisted by assistants Stefano Franco from Padua and Nicola Morea from Molfetta. Fourth man will be Gabriele Zangara from Catanzaro. Kick-off at 8.45pm.

First half with Catania in the lead

Picerno was immediately ahead with Albadoro trying to surprise Livieri with a shot from outside the area, the Catania with Castellini crossing for the onrushing Mazzotta, just over the crossbar.

Catania was dangerous in the tenth minute with Marsura first and Chiricò later, both unlucky in their shots on goal which were fortuitously deflected by their opponents.

Picerno appears near Livieri with Albadoro crossing for Ceccarelli, the shot does not put the Rossazzurri goalkeeper in difficulty.

In the 27th minute it is again Picerno who becomes dangerous with Novella who fortuitously hits the top of the crossbar with a cross.

But Catania takes the lead immediately afterwards with an action that starts from the feet of Chiricò who flies away and serves the onrushing Di Carmine who pierces the goalkeeper. The Massimino is bedlam!

The dangerous actions always start from the feet of Chiricò who serves Marsura high over the crossbar. Marsura returns the favor immediately afterwards by serving Chiricò who, with a curling shot, almost reaches the top corner. It’s a sparkling Catania!

Di Carmine’s second goal in the second half

At the beginning of the second half it is Picerno who poses a danger with Murano who only in front of the goal is hypnotized by Livieri who sends a corner kick.

The new arrival Bouah immediately makes himself felt on the wing in the 60th minute providing a wonderful assist for Zammarini who strikes with first intention. Immediately afterwards Marsura feeds Di Carmine who hits the crossbar. It’s the prologue to the goal that comes immediately after thanks to the usual Chiricò who flies away and provides a perfect assist for Di Carmine who pierces poor Merelli. Catania 2 Picerno 0.

In the 86th minute Ladinetti tries from outside the area and puts the visiting goalkeeper in difficulty who saves in two halves. Then it’s Picerno’s turn to miss a goal into an empty net with Murano shooting wide of the net. Then it’s business as usual and 6 minutes of added time.

This time Catania appeared more attentive and prudent. He knew how to measure his energy by waiting for the opponent and then hitting him with stretches of suffocating play and fast and effective pressing. A far cry from the Catania seen against Crotone where the team had played very well in the first 35 minutes and then inevitably dropped due to the great energy expended, exposing the side of a cynical Crotone. Let’s go Liotru, Let’s GO!
