FC Groningen has reached the next round in the TOTO KNVB Cup Tournament. On Wednesday evening, Rijnsburgse Boys were beaten 0-1. The halftime score at Sportpark Middelmors was 0-0. Marvin Peersman scored for the Pride of the North.

FC Groningen had to do it in Rijnsburg without Dick Lukkien on the bench. The head coach had already had jaw complaints in recent days and on the match day they had increased to such an extent that Lukkien needed immediate help. He therefore had to hand over the coaching to assistant Marcel Groninger. Before leaving for Rijnsburg, Lukkien and his staff had put together the setup. In addition to Thijmen Blokzijl and Laros Duarte, Marco Rente also turned out to be unavailable on the match day. The German was replaced at right back by Liam van Gelderen. In addition, Luciano Valente was preferred on the left over Isak Määttä. Up front, the staff chose the Groningen talent duo Romano Postema and Thom van Bergen as strikers.

Decision
The decision was made after half-time at the beautiful Sportpark Middelmors, with around two thousand spectators. Twenty minutes before the end, Marvin Peersman headed in a corner at the far post. FC Groningen then had opportunities to extend the score, but the score remained 0-1.
