Excellent evening for Willem II, who won the top match against Emmen and saw Roda lose

NOS Football

Leader Willem II has had an excellent Friday evening in the first division. The Tilburg team won the top match against number three FC Emmen 3-0, while number two Roda JC defeated FC Dordrecht (0-2).

Willem II thus doubled its lead over the two closest pursuers, from three to six points.

Emmen recorded its third victory in a row last Monday and could level with Willem II with a win in Tilburg. The visitors came closest to scoring in the first half, when Piotr Parzyszek’s effort hit the crossbar.

While both teams did not avoid each other much before half time, Willem II came out of the dressing room a lot better. That quickly resulted in a goal: Jeredy Hilterman headed in the 1-0.

Fifteen minutes before the end, substitute Jeremy Bokila, who had returned from injury, decided the match, two minutes after he had taken Hilterman’s place. Moments later, the Congo-born striker also headed in the 3-0. Bokila can rightly be called a ‘super sub’, because he has already scored seven goals as a substitute this season.

The team of coach Peter Maes will visit ADO next week and can then also win the second period title.

Roda loses with ten men

It was not a successful evening for number two Roda JC, which already has a period title. At FC Dordrecht, the Limburgers fell behind after more than half an hour of play after a goal by the Austrian Rene Kriwak.

Sami Ouaissa (l), before being sent off the field

Things did not get better for Bas Sibum’s team in the second half, as after more than an hour of play, Roda had to continue with ten men after Sami Ouaissa was sent off the field.

Twenty minutes before the end, Matisse Didden was close to the equalizer, but his header hit the post. Kriwak made it 2-0 moments later.

ADO doesn’t win either

Number four ADO Den Haag could have moved up to second place if they won against Helmond Sport, but Darije Kalezić’s team also lost.

When visiting number thirteen, ADO came back to 2-2 after a 2-0 deficit thanks to two goals from Henk Veerman, but Martijn Kaars decided the game ten minutes before the end by shooting in a penalty: 3-2.

For top scorer Kaars it was his second goal of the evening, bringing his total to fourteen goals.

Godts with stretcher from field

The match between Den Bosch and Jong Ajax ended in a minor key for the Amsterdam team, because Mika Godts appears to have seriously injured himself in injury time. The 18-year-old Belgian scored the equalizing 3-3 from a penalty kick two minutes before the end and briefly hit the artificial grass when he tried to keep a ball in without an opponent nearby.

It is unclear how serious the injury is, but Godts had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

FC Groningen has resumed its upward trend in the past two matches and tonight recorded its third win in a row against VVV-Venlo, after a series of seven games without a win.

The home team fell behind early, but still managed to score three points in the second half. Laros Duarte shot in a free kick, after which 19-year-old Groningen Jorg Schreuders decided the game a few minutes later.
