On the eve of the new winter season, the EU has filled its gas storage facilities to almost 100%, the situation is better than last year, representative of the European Commission Tim McPhie said, Report informs.
“Last year, EU member states agreed to the European Commission’s proposal to fix targets for filling storage facilities by winter to ensure security of supply. Today, EU gas storage facilities are almost 100% full, thanks to all the measures taken over the past 18 months, we are in the better position ahead of the coming winter than we were last year,” he said.
McPhie added that the EU keeps about 3 billion cubic meters of gas in Ukrainian storage facilities.
