Unrest at NEC, Meijer under pressure
Things are quite restless at NEC. The position of trainer Rogier Meijer is wavering, mainly due to the pressure from the supporters of the Nijmegen club. After the disappointing draw at home against Almere City, white towels were waved and part of the crowd chanted “Meijer get the hell out of here”.
The club management has expressed its confidence in the trainer. NEC will play away against AZ next week and Meijer will not be held accountable for that. This will be followed by two crucial matches for his future. NEC receives a visit from Roda JC in the cup and then bottom line Volendam awaits in De Goffert. If that goes wrong, the unrest will only increase and the question is whether Marcel Boekhoorn, who again invested millions in the club, will not intervene.
