Thijs Dallinga once again proved his worth for FC Toulouse on Thursday. The Dutch striker scored a goal in the spectacular 3-2 win over Liverpool in the Europa League. Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen qualified for the knockout phase.
Liverpool started the Europa League match in the south of France with a perfect score of nine points from three matches. Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team did not exactly appear sharp. Aron Donnum gave Toulouse the lead before half-time.
After half time the Dallinga quarter started. The 23-year-old striker thought he would double the score, but this goal was disallowed because he had roughly put his direct opponent aside. A little later Dallinga still scored. He took the ball beautifully and found the inside of the post: 2-0.
Dallinga scored his third goal in four Europa League matches. Two weeks ago, the Groninger scored the only French goal in the 5-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield Road. Dallinga has scored three goals in Ligue 1 so far.
Liverpool brought back the tension with an own goal from Cristian Cásseres, but Frank Magri doubled the lead again shortly afterwards. Diogo Jota’s 3-2 turned out to be just for statistics. Liverpool’s equalizer in the 97th minute was disallowed due to handball.
The number fourteen of the Ligue 1 recorded an unexpected victory. Due to the defeat of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at LASK (3-0), Toulouse rises to second place in group E of the Europa League. Liverpool is still in the lead.
Atalanta and Leverkusen to Europa League knockout phase
Mitchel Bakker, Marten de Roon, Teun Koopmeiners and Hans Hateboer helped Atalanta to the knock-out phase. The Dutch team from Serie A was too strong for the Austrian Sturm Graz with 1-0. Hateboer came on to the field immediately after half-time and Koopmeiners was substituted four minutes before the end. Berat Djimsiti scored the only goal of the match in the fiftieth minute.
Bayer Leverkusen did excellent business in group H of the Europa League. The team of coach Xabi Alonso is the revelation and leader of this Bundesliga season, and continues this trend on the European fields.
The away match against Qarabag FK was heading for a goalless draw, until Victor Boniface made it 0-1 in injury time. As a result, Leverkusen won for the fourth time in a row and the team of Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong is assured of wintering in the Europa League.

Luckassen helps Maccabi to victory in a charged match
Maccabi Tel Aviv won the first game since the outbreak of war in Israel. Partly thanks to a goal from former PSV player Derrick Luckassen, the team was too strong for Zorya Luhansk 3-1 in an away match in the group stage of the Conference League.
Maccabi is not allowed to play in its own country for the time being. Just like opponent Zorya, which is moving to Poland for its home matches due to the war in Ukraine. Luckassen opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Dor Peretz made it 2-0 in the 26th minute for the team in which Joris van Overeem also had a starting place. Peretz made it 3-0 shortly before halftime. Fifteen minutes before the end, Daniil Alefirenko did something back for the away home team: 1-3.
The victory moved Maccabi into second place in Group B with six points from three matches. KAA Gent, which won 3-2 at Icelandic Breidablik, leads with 10 points from four games.
