The Côte d’Ivoire national team defeated its Gambian national team 2-0 during the confrontation that brought them together today, Monday, in Dar es Salaam, in the second round of the sixth group matches for the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada, and Mexico.
The first half ended with Côte d’Ivoire leading with a goal scored by Christian Kouame in the 45th minute, then Sekou Fofana added the second goal in the 86th minute.
The victory raised the Côte d’Ivoire Elephants’ tally to six points at the top after two consecutive victories on goal difference over Gabon, and Gambia remained without a score of points after losing for the second time in a row.
Among the eighth group matches, the Equatorial Guinea national team defeated its host Liberia national team with a goal without a response during the confrontation that brought them together today, Monday, in the second round of the eighth group matches for the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico.
The Equatorial Guinea national team owes the credit for this victory to Emilio Nsaoui, who scored the decisive goal in the ninth minute.
The Liberia national team played the entire second half with ten players after Nohan Kenneh was sent off in the 45th minute.
Equatorial Guinea rose to the top with six points after two consecutive victories, while Liberia remained without points after losing for the second time in a row.
