Highlight of Atalantathe midfielder Ederson is experiencing the highest scoring season of his career: they are four goals and one assistance in 14 games. The Brazilian is a fundamental piece in the Italian team, which faces the Sturm this Thursday, at 5pm (Brasília time), on Europa Leaguewith live broadcast Pela ESPN no Star+.

Even before becoming successful on the Old Continent, the midfielder had a brief spell in Corinthians in 2020. With no opportunities at Timão, he was loaned to Fortalezawhere he shone under the command of Juan Pablo Vojvoda until he was definitively sold to Salernitana.

Éderson, however, still doesn’t understand why he didn’t have more chances to wear the black and white shirt. In an exclusive interview with Brazilian vented about the treatment he received at the São Paulo club.

”When I was little, most of my family were Corinthians. I grew up around Corinthians and I didn’t really understand why I wasn’t playing for Corinthians anymore. Because I arrived and started well. There was a bad moment there, a change of coach and everything. But I didn’t understand my issue, of having to train separately and not giving me the opportunity, of not coming and talking to me for whatever reason,’ he said.

At Corinthians, the midfielder had a sequence of games, especially in the final stretch of the 2020 Paulistão, with Tiago Nunes. Afterwards, he lost space with the arrival of Vagner Mancini and said goodbye with just 25 games played and three goals.

”In my opinion, I was training well, I was doing my part and doing everything that was asked. I don’t know what the reason was. There was no conversation, because I always asked myself why, what had happened. I wanted to know why because if it was based on my performance, I could improve. But it never was. I thought it was very disrespectful to me,” he added.

And it was at Fortaleza that Éderson stood out. At Leão do Pici, the midfielder became a fundamental piece in the team that took the club to the CONMEBOL Libertadores. He also participated in the undefeated Ceará champion campaign, semi-finalist in the Northeast Cup by you Brazil’s Cupin addition to 4th place in Series A.

However, a clause in the loan contract between Corinthians and Fortaleza allowed the player to be sold without Tricolor receiving any financial compensation. Thus, the midfielder left Brazil to defend Salernitana, in Italy.

”I had a good season for Fortaleza and I would even be willing to return if they told me why. All because I respected the club a lot, like I said, my family, the vast majority are Corinthians fans. I had this desire to do well at Corinthians, to do good things. I got upset. And so I chose to continue at Fortaleza and soon after the proposal from Europe arrived, which was also good for Corinthians, because my rights still belonged to Corinthians. There, everyone understood that it would be good for all parties,” he explained.

Voted Atalanta’s best player in October, Éderson is currently enjoying an excellent phase at the Italian club and, despite regretting his sudden move to Timão, he holds no grudge against Alvinegro.

”I don’t feel any pain for Corinthians, because I respect the club and the players there. Today I will never say that I wish bad things for Corinthians”, he concluded.
