AGI – The former president of the United States Bill ClintonPrince Andrew of England, Mickael Jackson, the magician David Copperfield, even Donald Trump. Long awaited, it was finally pthe first tranche of judicial documents has been published which document the world of Jeffrey Epstein, the New York financier and millionaire accused of pedophilia and who committed suicide in prison in 2019, before being tried.
The documents are part of the court documents relating to the defamation lawsuit filed in 2015 by Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s main accusers, against his former lover and partner, the British heiress Ghislaine Maxwell. Prominent names were expected but many were already known because they were identified during the 2021 trial against Maxwell, sentenced to 20 years in prison for helping the financier to sexually abuse minors.
The publication of the documents was ordered by the judge last month after years in which they had remained classified. But the reports of young girls to the police had been going on since the 2000s and many elements, cited in the file, over a thousand pages of judicial documents, were therefore already known because they had surfaced in the newspapers. In the case of Donald Trump, the billionaire and former president is named in the documents as an acquaintance of Jeffrey Esptein, but no mention is made of possible misdemeanors or criminal behavior.
For the former president Bill Clinton, who is much closer to the financier and who had traveled on his planes with him in the 2000s, his name it is mentioned dozens of times but, once again, without clear evidence of illegal acts. The first pages are taken from sworn depositions of women who said they had been abused and tell in great detail what had happened to them. But they add little to what was already known about the world surrounding Epstein.
There is for example the statement by Johanna Sjoberg, another of Epstein’s victims, according to which Prince Andrew of England touched her breast in the financier’s house in Manhattan when he was 21 years old. The story was already known, but it is the first time that the judicial document with his testimony has been made public. Sjoberg also testified that Epstein told him that former US President Bill Clinton (in the White House between 1993 and 2001) “liked girls”.
Clinton, whose name has been linked to the financier several times, has always defended himself by claiming that he knew nothing of the financier’s crimes. As for Prince Andrew, in 2021 Giuffre explicitly denounced him, but then the parties reached a millionaire agreement to close the matter. Since his mother, Elizabeth II, did not want to pay, the prince had to sell a dream chalet in Switzerland to cover the costs of lawyers and the transaction. And the infamy of that involvement cost the Duke of York ostracization within the Royal Family which continues to this day.
