Advertising in Assassin’s Creed was a “technical error”, says Ubisoft

The propaganda that caught the players of Assassin’s Creed surprise was unintentional, according to the Ubisoft. To The Verge, the company explained on Friday (24) that the Black Friday pop-up on the loading screens of the series’ games was a “technical error”.

The advertisement, which announced Assassin’s Creed Mirage available for a Black Friday promotional price, was registered by several players. This is the case of the user tridell24 who, in Redditshared a video of the pop-up in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (via VGC).

To the The Vergea Ubisoft representative said that the problem was quickly resolved as soon as the company was aware of what happened.

“We became aware that some players encountered pop-up ads while playing certain Assassin’s Creed games yesterday,” the spokesperson said. “This was the result of a technical error that we addressed as soon as we became aware of the issue.”

Ubisoft usually advertises other games in the franchise on the main menu of Assassin’s Creed games – so it is possible that the error caused the pop-up to appear in the wrong place.
