Johnny and the
Hurricanes® Biography out of the LP cover of "The Big Sound
of Johnny and the Hurricanes®", Teldec 6.28703.
Written by Gerd Dietrich of Teldec in October 1987:
Remarks of Johnny Paris' ® wife Sonja: "John went
actually to Rossford high, he did not go to school in
Toledo. According to interviews he stated that the band saw
NO royalties from record sales in the early years, but
lived of off the money they made with life performances. In
other interviews he stated that he saw merely $500 in
royalties per year in the early day. Royalties started to
come in for Johnny Paris® after he took legal actions
against Irving Micahnik in the 80's and got back the rights
to his songs and band name from the estate of Irving
Micahnik, who passed away during the litigation process.
John himself called the years with Harry Balk and Irving
Micahnik simply as "fruitful".
